Environment, Health & Safety Compliance
 
Biotecnol operates in compliance with all applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations. Maintaining and improving on these standards is fundamental to ensuring safe working practices and concern for the environment. It is a duty of every employee to improve workplace health and safety by recognising and mitigating potential hazards. Examples include following procedures, using proper personal protective equipment, handling, storing and disposal of hazardous materials correctly.
 

Safety

Every employee is responsible for both their own safety and that of others. This responsibility covers all types of risk, whether physical, biological, or chemical and for understanding the dangers associated with the activities they undertake and materials used in those activities.

Waste disposal

Wastes are managed by a certified supplier and registered in compliance with Portuguese Decree-Law nº178/2006 of 5th September, 2006.

Authorizations

Biotecnol is authorized to work with genetic-modified microorganisms according to Portuguese Decree-Law nº2/2001 of 4th of January, 2001.

Handling of hazardous substances

Hazardous substances are notified to the Ministry of Environment in compliance with Portuguese Decree-Law nº164/2001 of 23 of May, 2001.
